Since 2006, Virginia’s House of Hope have distributed school supplies, food, clothing and educational toys to over 10,000 families.
The mission of Virginia's House of Hope is to improve the quality of life for children. We accomplish this by helping disadvantaged families throughout New York City and the surrounding regions. In cooperation with the local public school systems, we help those in need gain access to food, clothing and other basic necessities.
Throughout 2015 we distributed shoes, toys and clothes to approximately 5,000 families, and in collaboration with the Coast Guard we donated Thanksgiving turkeys to over 400 families of Coast Guard members of sector NY in Staten Island.
What We've Achieved
In September 2017, Virginia’s House of Hope founder, staff, and volunteers went to P.S. 155 at East 117th Street in Harlem to hand deliver 350 backpacks full of school supplies to students who needed them most.
Annually, we are proud to be offering 10 students, seeking university enrollment in a maritime-related discipline, $2,000, paid directly to their school of choice - in order to ease the burden receiving a quality education can sometimes have.
By June 1, 2018, we completed a record 21 donation days at public schools across New York City’s five boroughs.
We have partnered with over 600 school administrators to identify candidates who might benefit from our food and toy distribution programs.
